Rising Stars Annual Golf Outing Raises Funds for Educational Initiative

Now in its 4th year of operation, the Rising Stars annual golf outing at the Cherry Valley Golf Club in Garden City has become one of the foundations most successful fundraising events. Rising Stars Executive Director Dan Gimpel is quick to share the credit, “we are thrilled to see this event grow bigger and better every year, and credit for that success goes mostly to our Director of Operations, Tom Hughes, who began this event four years ago.” Hughes has been with the program for 15 years and he and his wife Bethany LeSueur (Director of Rising Stars Girls Programs) are happy to see this event become a fixture for Rising Stars. Says Hughes, ”This event would not have been possible without our presentation sponsor, Ed Anderson and X-Cell Insulation Corporation. Ed really came through for us and we can’t thank him enough.” Hughes also was quick to mention fellow director Paula Mautro, who along with Hughes, was one of the founders of the golf outing four years ago and instrumental to its success.

Over 120 golfers and guests enjoyed perfect weather at the event and together with sponsors and benefactors raised over $30,000 for the Rising Stars Academic Scholarship Programs. Gimpel added “It’s a great event for the kids as it helps raise money, and more importantly, awareness of Rising Stars’ need to help at risk children. The Rising Stars family cannot thank everyone enough for helping to make this event possible, but want to give special thanks to our signature sponsors- The New York Knicks, X-Cell Insulation Corporation, Thomas Quinlan III, The Solferino Family and Mr. Ted Virtue who continue to support our mission to provide underserved children in NYC.”
