Basketball is a thinking and a strategy game, just like chess. In both games, in order to beat your defenders, you need to set up an offense and think ahead. On Saturday, March 25, 2017, the Rising Stars Bayshore team were entranced by a chess lesson from Mr. Rich Nelson. This team meets weekly for 90 minutes before practice each week for tutoring sessions that include math, reading, homework help and special motivational lessons like the one Mr. Nelson taught this week. Rising Stars continues to expose our student-athletes to a wide variety of experiences that encourage their competitive nature to succeed on the courts, in the classrooms and in their lives.
