Rising Stars Basketball Camp Registration – SIGN UP NOW!

Dear Parents and Campers,

Welcome to our 21st annual Summer Basketball Academy series. Once again, we anticipate a waiting list of campers that wish to attend. The reasons are simple. We strictly limit enrollment in every camp and provide an exceptional basketball experience.

Last summer camp had 4:1 camper-to-staff ratio. Many teams had two coaches, all teaching was conducted in small groups and semi-final/final games were officiated by three IAABO officials. That’s the Rising Stars difference.

I hope to see you this summer and I can personally guarantee your experience will exceed your expectations. Please remember, enrollment is limited. So apply early! Feel free to use our online contact us form with any questions.

Sincerely,
Dan Gimpel

Rising Stars Basketball Players Team Up With The New York Mets

During the 2015-16 winter holiday season, Rising Stars, a local non-profit basketball organization, held its first “HEARTS AND HOOPS” community service program to help local charities. During that event, Rising Stars families donated over 100 coats for NY CARES through an initiative with the NY METS. To show their appreciation and join in the Rising Stars commitment to teach kids the power of giving back, the METS Community Outreach Program gave our student athletes and their families the opportunity to attend four spring season games. Our kids had a great time at Citifield on June 15, 2016 as they watched the METS triumph over the Pirates, to end their three-game losing streak. It was a particularly impressive night for pitcher, Noah Syndergaard as he did not allow a run for eight innings. Excited Rising Stars players were all smiles as they cheered for the home team.

Elite athlete Matt Long inspires Rising Stars

On May 4, 2016, The Rising Stars Youth Foundation hosted an event for their student athletes featuring Matt Long. Matt can be described as a firefighter, 9/11 first responder, ironman athlete, accomplished marathoner, but to the Rising Stars kids he will always be known as a hero. The event was held in Brookville, LI for kids from 4th – 12th grades and their families. Rising Stars is a one of kind program that focuses on character- building lessons on and off the court and is a unique organization that exposes kids to all types of educational experiences. Matt was a former Division I Basketball player who played for Iona College and a was determined athlete when he was struck by a 20-ton bus in December, 2005. The participants of the event were inspired by Matts story of inner strength and survival, especially when he told our young athletes, “ Your mind will always quit before your body does so when you think you have no more to give, there is always 50% more”.

Beautiful Me Workshop

RS

On April 19, The Rising Stars Youth Foundation teamed up with The Hance Family Foundation to provide a free workshop for over 60 female student – athletes aged 10- 17. The workshop was designed to promote self-awareness and empower young women. At the start of the evening, when asked how they defined “beauty”, the majority of girls rattled off a list of celebrities. By the end of the 90 minute program, all the girls were identifying the “beautiful” things about themselves as well as filling the heart-shaped boxes they made, with compliment notes for their peers. Over 60 beautiful smiles lit up the room.  The “Beautiful Me” program was designed to be the antidote to the grim statistics of teen girls associated with eating disorders, substance abuse, and depression. Rising Stars couldn’t be more proud of all the wonderful girls who participated and know that they will spread the message of resilience and teamwork in their schools and sports teams.

On Monday, April 11, 2016, Rising Stars Scholars volunteered in the sixth annual Long Island Lutheran High School Food Drive on their Brookville, NY campus. Rising Stars student athletes helped pack over 300,000 food packets in order to feed 500 children both locally and globally every day for one year. The meals we helped pack are nutritionally balanced to prevent malnutrition. The following quote by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. reflects the spirit of the efforts of the Rising Stars student volunteers showing that kids can make a difference in the world.

“Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”~Martin Luther King, Jr.
